Description
Picture this guy in a coffee shop on Bleecker, reading Kerouac or Ginsberg, sipping a latte and wearing all black, of course. A philosophical, cynical poet is Joe, of the beatnik era, serious and bald, and surely soulful. This piece has been hand-cast in plaster from my original sculpture, the mold from which was hand-created using latex rubber to catch the detail and plaster for the mother mold. This piece is still one of a kind, however, because it is hand-painted. This is actually the very first cast of this particular piece that's up for sale. I will only make 100 casts of this and then I will break the mold forever. A sad thing, I know. This particular Joe has been painted in antique gold, sporting a red goatee. His eyes have been adorned with genuine Swarovski® crystals in a tanzanite color. Beatnik Joe comes ready to hang with a plastic-covered wire loop set into the plaster. He is signed, dated and numbered on the back (1/100). Thanks for looking!
